Lara Giddings, Premier of Tasmania, and David O’Byrne, Economic Development Minister, announced the successful grant recipients under the Tasmanian Government Innovation and Investment Fund on the 4th of May 2013 at Currawong Engineering. Twenty-five business will share in $3.5 million of grant funding.
Currawong received a grant of $65,500 to assist with the purchase of a new vertical machining centre (Okuma Genos M560-V) and the appointment of a new CNC Machinist. Gavin Brett, Currawong’s Chief Executive Officer said, “Currawong is very grateful for the support provided by the Tasmanian Government. This grant will allow us to increase our production level through the purchase of the high precision and versatile Okuma machine and also provide back-up capacity, if another machine becomes in need of repair”.
